Maciej Stryjkowski (1547–1593) – one of the most famous Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth historians of the second half of XVI. He was the author of patriotic poesy on Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth history. Polish, Lithuanian, Sagmotia and all Russia Chronicles – the first printed history of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania brought the greatest glory to him as to a historian and a poet. The value if Chronicles is that its author was a witness of many wars described by himself and many battles he took part in.
